About Haley
My initiative, as a maker, is to capture people in the beauty of their individuality – to portray humanity and connection through choreography, photography, and writing by dedicating time and space to the identities and relationships being represented.
I view dance as a form of photography, and taking images as a form of choreography. Each of my art forms blend seamlessly into the other, allowing a limitless, collaborative nature to remain prevalent in all processes.
Throughout my choreographic and improvisational dance endeavors, I explore what it means to curate work with ever evolving humans. My collaborators and I create inquisitive, kinetic phrase work, cultivating a space for us to learn about ourselves. I push them and myself to see the poetics of internality, and how self reflection can lead to external expression being on our own terms.
Moving through ecstatic floorwork and spatial expansion with immense groundedness and malleability, I treat choreography as a sculpture.
In images and writing, my inclinations remain the same. To make a dance, a piece of art, or prose, is to take ownership of a narrative, an incredibly powerful way of writing my own story.
